Star Trek Adventures

Yesterday was movie day for us...we are trying to get back in the groove of going on Wednesday afternoon again. I've had some health problems since the first of the year and we just got out of the habit, but we went back with a bang! We saw the new "Star Trek" movie and we really enjoyed it a lot. Not going to tell anything about it so I won't spoil it for anyone, but there were a few surprises in it...actually there were a number of surprises in it. We were original Trekkies and didn't watch any of the following tv shows that followed the initial series. But we lined up on the sofa each week with the kids to "go where no man had gone before" with Captain Kirk and Spock on the starship Enterprise. Those really were the days and after the movie was over I told hubby it was like a time warp back to when we were 20something. My daughter who lives in Houston/Galveston area can't wait to see it, either.

I found out last week that I don't have gout, but do have rheumatoid arthritis and a number of other ghastly things that are making life pretty much a drag right now. The only reason I'm posting this is in case I'm gone for a while you will know why. The meds I'm taking are pretty yucky. Hopefully I won't have to take this stuff very long, but one of them takes 12 weeks before it will show improvement in the symptoms. The doc told me one would make me very sick the day after I take it, but it didn't this week. I was all prepared, but felt ok that day. Hopefully that will be the way of it in the future, too.

  3. LOL! I was never a Trekkie - but I have enjoyed some of the movies... and did watch the show from time to time. Outer space and space fantasy just never really held my attention. I was more of a Westerns type person! Or just a day to day earthling!

I'm sorry to hear you have mOre health issues. Sounds like this latest issue might be kinda serious... I'm praying for you. You take it easy.

  4. I watched every Star Trek series! I loved them all -- well, no, I only watched a couple of seasons of Voyager then I just forgot to turn the television on.

ANYWAY, I very much want to see the new movie, but Amoeba doesn't, so I'll likely go without him.

I hope the meds start helping soon!

  5. Glad the movie was a success. I wait for the DVDs to rent.

My pharmacy background and several friends with RA tell me the drugs are sometimes worse than the disease.

One common drug used intermittantly is prednisone. I am all too familiar with it in treatment of asthma and COPD. Look out, 'fridge, here I come, door and all. It contributes to my obesity.

I have known one woman who did not gain. I pray that for you, too.

I have a friend in Brownwood with RA. She had rhuematic fever very young and developed RA after age 50.
