Away for a While

Last Thursday my Mother In Law passed away. She will be missed by so many. Even in the midst of the Alzeimer's she had a cheerful disposition. She didn't know why she was happy, but she was and that was good enough. It has been very difficult for my husband and there has been so much to do. I'll be back after things have calmed down around here and the kids have gotten home safely and we have gotten some rest.

  3. Very sorry to hear of her demise. Over time I've read of her in your posts, and in some way she's been a 'familiar' presence.

Maybe she knew deep within why she was happy.

My condolences to you and your family.

  4. Condolences to your husgand on you on the passing of your MIL. I know from your posts and those of my friends who deal with this disease what a trial time it us. And now my long time friend from the second grade has it and is living with her son, when I finally found her through FACDBOOK her son, does not know me. I am not offended

You, like me, have to take care of ourselves, not words on a page.

My granddaughter has lived with us for two or three years now and we take her to school and pick her up. Actually my wife does. She was taught how to print for a couple of years and then switched to cursive writing. She still does everything in cursive writing but they no longer grade her on it or teach anymore about it. She gets straight A's and she is also a whiz at using computers and computer programs. She writes stories on her computer all the time. I had bought a new Dell a couple of years ago and it was sitting around here getting dusty so when she moved in I let her use it. She is 10 and in the 5th grade.

  7. I remember all the frustration with your in-laws, yet you both preserved in keeping them safely independent as long as possible.

You need some rest and a slower pace for awhile. After helping my sister-in-law after death of her husband, I realized all the things that have to be completed and changed...amazing. And tha was just in two weeds. It also helped her make the transition to living alone again.

  8. Thank all of you so much. My husband has worked so hard to make them comfortable and safe. The lady who helps me around my house is going to help me get their house in order and to start packing things up.

Thank all of you for making it a little easier to find a note from
one of you. *hugs to all of you*

  10. I'm so sorry. I'm so far behind on blogs, and I hate being late on this sort of stuff.

I hope you guys are getting through okay. As the weeks go on and people stop calling all the time and the cards stop coming and the casseroles and stuff all gets eaten, I know it can get kind of lonely.

You'll be in my thoughts for a long, long time.
