Random thoughts

Yesterday our little cat didn't come home. We have looked everywhere and talked to all the neighbors. She is gone, much like when my daughter's cat disappeared and never found. The cat is 19 or 20 years old, but seemed in good health the night before. The sadness is there most all the time right now, but will not be so bad in a while and she still might come home. And PJ, no I cannot take your new little Trouble as much as I'd like to help you out on that.

The movers came early to pack my daughter's stuff to move to Conroe. She called a little while ago and she has caught up with them on the freeway and they left an hour before she did. I wonder if she has one more time to take that course on Saturday that cancels out a ticket. *sigh*

My birthday was so nice with all the kids here. It is good to be able to see and visit with them even if it is only for a little while. Today is my mil's birthday, but she doesn't know it. No progress on that front at all. And now my fil is going downhill rapidly. He can't remember anything either. We are still talking to them about going to assisted living, but she is adamant about not going there or having someone come in to help them. It is a terrible quandry....and if something really bad happens to them, I guess my husband and I would go to prison for elderly abuse. Even though we have contacted everyone, and every agency that we can think of. Their doctor says they need to be in assisted living, but he doesn't tell them or fill out the paperwork for a competency hearing. And I think if we got them in now they could just leave. It is wearing both of us down.

My poor husband is worn to a frazzle with all that has been going on. The cat was mainly his "baby" and he is broken hearted about her. This too shall pass, but I wish God could give us a break for a while.

At 2:21 pm cdt--On another note...has anyone had to sign up with that crazy Gmail? I'm not liking it at all! It is weird and I can't just see what is in there....it is all right up in my face. Anyway, it is not my favorite and I'm worn out with people changing stuff all the time.

  1. Belated birthday wishes to you.

A missing family member is never easy on the mind or the heart. The thought of how she must be fending for herself is what troubles the mind. I do hope she finds her way back.

Age is fickle on the mind, and somehow I feel so much changes for the elderly as in their own priorities.

Wish you well, time lifts everything.

  2. Thank you, Anil P. Life is fickle as you said. My father had a stroke, but was not mentally any worse off than before. I used to kid him that he was still as goofy as he was before the stroke. One of the doctors had asked me if he was. He wasn't. I hope when I get older I have as good grasp on reality as he did and can handle adversity with the grace he had. He was a very simple man, but had great courage. We made sure to bury him with evergreen sprig....a Cherokee tradition that the representative from the tribal council brought.

Thank you for the birthday wishes, as well. I am well and truly a little old lady now. :)

  3. Awwwww... I'm so sorry about the kitty. We, too, have had kitties just disappear... we had Cookie for a good many years and he was NEVER an outdoor cat... never spent a day outside in his life. One day he disappeared. I was sure he was IN the house and that if he had died we would know soon enough. But he wasn't. Somehow he had gotten out without us seeing him, and I'm sure it was because it was his time to die. Somehow they KNOW! And somehow, they want to go off by themselves... But it's soooo sad for the family. :(

I'm glad you had a happy birthday with the kids! I'm sO glad to have all mine "in the area"... and I just LOVE when we can all get together! HOPEFULLY that will happen for MY birthday next week...

I have a gmail account... I've had it for as long as I've had my blog -- I thought you HAD to have one to have a Blogger blog...??? How'd you get one without it? Anyway... I'm not sure what you mean... Do you not like the FORMAT? I don't like the format either... where it puts my reply... it's weird. But I guess because it's just not what I'm used to.

  4. First Happy Birthday! How'd I miss it?
Second, I'm sorry about your kitty. I've had that happen too, and it hurts like heck.
One time my 15 year old went off and I just knew she was gone. Then one night I was watching "Crossing Delancy" on HBO and I heard Meow, and she was at the window. I opened it, she jumped in and went right to her food dish! It was full since we had another cat and she ate her fill!

  5. Melli,
I've been using my yahoo email ever since I signed up to have this blog. Hmmm...there was just something the other day that said I had to use the silly gmail one. I think I signed up for one when we got the new computer, but never before.

I don't like the way the emails are on top of the window and I can't move them over at all. I guess that is the best way to say what the deal is with gmail.

We had a cat ages and ages ago that got up in my neighbor's car engine and she drove about 5 or 6 miles over to her brother's house and just happened to see our cat come streaking out from under her car. She told me and I spent hours and days searching for her, but one night just like Maribeth's cat she came to the patio door.

I hope she is ok if someone took her home with them. Our neighbors told us she would sit on the driveway and their kids would come over after soccer practice and pet her and Hans told us the couple who walk in the morning and again in the evening carrying a bag of dry cat food usually stopped to pet her. I knew she was a sweet natured cat, but not that much. She may have simply moved on. Her former owners live down the street and she decided we should be hers and so she moved in with us.

  6. I Hope the kitty is OK, maybe she will reconsider and come back. We had a mess about feral cats at city council this week too sad to regale.

The parents in law seems to have set in to be the neverendingstory. I hope somebody finds a solution for everyone's sake.

    Your birthday sounded great, however.

I have a gmail account but only after I designed several blogs and was using yahoo. Unless something has changed it was not a requirement to have blogger. I dislike it. When comment come in on a post, some of them stack behind others. When I reply it gets stack somehow in the e-mail. I agree . What a mess.

I still may learn WordPress when I get time. TIME is the key word.
